Spotlight: Alessia Cara is really here

Alessia Cara is going to be massive.

Her first release 'Here' is everywhere and from her Twitter and Instagram, she's pretty much our new favourite person.

She's been in the UK the last couple of days - on Annie Mac's show on Radio 1 and paying the Barfly in Camden a visit ahead of her sold out show later this year.

So, what's the deal?

Alessia is from a place called Brampton, in the suburbs of greater Toronto. She's just turned 19-years-old and has a voice that you just need to listen too.

She grew up listening to a heady mixture of Italian pop and Amy Winehouse thanks to her parents and started her YouTube channel, where she posted covers, aged just 13.

That voice though, it's silky smooth - almost r 'n' b like - but it's her songwriting that has already drawn comparisons to the likes of Lorde and Raury.

Watch the video for her first release 'Here' below to get a flavour:

Brilliant, isn't it? Now go tell your friends about this super cool new singer you've found on the internet.

Oh, and did we mention there's an AMAZING back catalogue of covers from the last few years on her YouTube channel.

Have this Amy Winehouse medley as a brucie bonus...

Alessia Cara plays a sold out show at The Barfly in London on 8th September.
